Bay Partners, Bain Invest $12.9 Million in dynaTrace
New financing confirms Lifecycle APM leadership
BOSTON, Aug 05, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- dynaTrace software, the award-winning leader in Lifecycle Application Performance Management for distributed Java and .NET applications, today announced that it has closed $12.9 Million in Series B financing led by Bay Partners, joined by original investor Bain Capital Ventures. These funds will be used to further expand the Company's sales, marketing and business development activities, as well as enlarge the technical advantage enjoyed by its industry-leading Lifecycle APM solution. Bay Partners General Partner Salil Deshpande will join the dynaTrace board.
"It's rare for enterprise software companies to create hit products that just feel right, and customers love. Many companies never do," said Deshpande. "But when you do, you put all your energy behind it. In our discussions with customers we realized that dynaTrace has just such a product in the area of Lifecycle APM, and I'm excited to be part of the team."
dynaTrace has achieved such rapid growth by enabling companies to reduce costs and improve performance through unprecedented visibility into the ever-increasing complexity of distributed applications. The core providing this visibility is dynaTrace's PurePath Technology(R): technology enabling transaction tracing across physical and logical tiers, whether Java or .NET. While tracing each individual transaction - across the lifecycle, even in production - PurePath measures the performance of individual servers, components and method borders (where problems occur), enhancing those findings with correlated contextual information such as logs, exceptions and method arguments (why problems occur).
"It's exciting to have dynaTrace's Lifecycle APM vision confirmed not only by industry leaders such as LinkedIn, Intuit and EnerNOC, but by savvy investors such as Bay Partners and Bain Capital," said dynaTrace CEO Bernd Greifeneder. "This investment validates our early success, and enables us to accelerate our market leadership."
"We welcome Bay Partners' Salil Deshpande," said Benjamin Nye of Bain Capital. "As the former co-founder of The Server Side.com, Salil has deep market knowledge of the J2EE and .NET space. Salil's conversations with dynaTrace customers confirmed that they could neither build nor manage web services, e-commerce, SaaS- or SOA-based applications without dynaTrace's PurePath solution."
About dynaTrace software, Inc.
dynaTrace is the leader in lifecycle application performance management - chosen by leaders such as LinkedIn, EnerNOC, AutoTrader, Siemens and UBS - for business-critical Java and .NET applications. dynaTrace's PurePath Technology(R) is the only solution that captures data on all individual transactions down to code level by tracing their "PurePath" across multiple physical and logical tiers - even 24x7 under load in production - enabling customers to move beyond monitoring to diagnosis and prevention. In each application lifecycle stage - development, QA, staging, production - IT personnel now can see and understand where and why performance issues exist. With dynaTrace, enterprises gain better understanding of their applications' dynamic behavior and how it impacts their business, allowing them to rapidly reconstruct problems to identify the root-cause and fix it.
