Nimsoft acquires the assets of Cittio
IT service management vendor Nimsoft acquires intellectual property assets of network and systems management vendor Cittio
Nimsoft announced Monday it had acquired for an undisclosed sum the intellectual property assets of Cittio, a maker of automated network and systems management software.
Nimsoft, which merged with former competitor Indicative Software to augment its business service management capabilities, acquired the assets of Cittio to beef up its Layer 2/Layer 3 network topology and mapping features. The acquired Cittio capabilities, according to Nimsoft executives, will enable Nimsoft to more quickly deliver root-cause analysis capabilities to customers.
"With this purchase, we will be accelerating the delivery of this advanced functionality normally associated with specialized or expensive network monitoring products,” says Gary Read, president and CEO of Nimsoft. "This was an item that was already on our development road map, but purchase will enable us to deliver more rapidly."
Nimsoft is building its product portfolio to better compete with the Big Four management vendors: BMC, CA, HP and IBM. The company has been incrementally adding capabilities to its product suite to address network, systems, application and IT service management. Cittio's network discovery and mapping capabilities will enable Nimsoft to find and map physical and virtual elements across customer environments, the company says.
Nimsoft says it will hire former Cittio engineers to continue development of the acquired vendor's technology.
